BARCELÓ HOTEL GROUP LANDS IN HUNGARY WITH THE OCCIDENTAL BRAND
2nd February 2017. Barceló Hotel Group already announced in FITUR that 2017 was going to be a year of great growth for the Company, most of all due to its new brands structure, that facilitates the addition of very differentiated hotels. In this sense, again, it is going to be the brand-new Occidental brand, which is going to enable the Spanish group to open in a new and sought-after destination: Hungary and specifically, Budapest.
Its landing in the Hungarian capital will take place this summer with the opening of the Occidental Budapest Di Verdi hotel, a four star property with 199 rooms located in Ulloi Ut, one of the main avenues in the city that links the airport with the historic centre, which is a mere 15 minute stroll from the hotel in front of main metro station.
According to David Darash, President of the hotel development Company “we have made a great effort to build this hotel project in a strategic location in the city and it was very important for us to work hand-in-hand with a solid hotel Company, recognised for its high service standards, with a great sales network and that understands the particularities of our project whilst being able to manage it successfully”.
Jaime Buxó, Chief Development Officer for the Barceló Hotel Group, has declared that “with this hotel opening, which will join our portfolio under a lease scheme, we will elevate our offer to a total of 21 countries whilst reinforcing our presence in Central Europe where we think we can optimise synergies working closely with our hotels in the Czech Republic. Also, we are currently analysing new and interesting projects in other countries in the area such as Austria and Poland which, if successfully incorporated, would consolidate our position in this area of Europe which is so interesting for both leisure and business travel”.
The Occidental Budapest di Verdi, which is currently undergoing its last stage of construction, is located in Budapest’s famous District 9, one of the most dynamic in the Hungarian capital that is destined to become a modern business centre, specially when an important International Convention Centre with capacity to hold events for up to 5000 people is opened in 2019.
